Greg Kerkvliet, a three-time state champion and multiple-time Cadet world medalist in freestyle, is featured on the MatBoss splash page for the 2018-19 season.

It marks the fourth straight year the nation’s No. 1 recruit by InterMat has been featured on the MatBoss splash page.

Kerkvliet, who attends Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, was dominant as a junior, finishing the season with a 49-1 record. His lone loss during his junior season came against the nation’s top recruit in the Class of 2018, Gable Steveson, 3-2. At Minnesota’s state tournament this past season, Kerkvliet picked up three falls and a technical fall in the finals on his way to the state championship at 220 pounds. He has compiled a record of 144-4 over his last three seasons.

In freestyle, Kerkvliet won a Cadet world title in 2017 and claimed a silver medal this past summer. He earned a spot on the 2018 Junior World Team but was unable to compete due to injury.

Kerkvliet committed to Ohio State University earlier this month.

Previous wrestlers featured on the MatBoss splash page include InterMat No. 1 recruits Mark Hall (2015-16), Spencer Lee (2016-17) and Gable Steveson (2017-18).

Hall, Lee and Steveson were all Junior world champions in freestyle. At the collegiate level, Hall (Penn State), and Lee (Iowa) were true freshman NCAA champions in 2017 and 2018 respectively, while Steveson (Minnesota) is entering his true freshman season.
